How long will your pension last?
Taking income from your pension while keeping it invested? Model how long your pot might last under fixed assumptions, and what happens if you change your withdrawal.
Drawdown calculator questions
How long might a pension last in drawdown?
It depends on withdrawals, investment returns, charges and how long income is needed. This tool compares two constant-return illustrations. It cannot predict when an actual pension will run out.
Does the calculator include inflation?
You can increase gross withdrawals each year at an assumed rate, alongside a fixed-cash comparison. If that rate matches inflation, it illustrates maintaining the withdrawal’s purchasing power. Results are shown in future pounds.
Does a pot lasting to age 100 mean the withdrawal is safe?
No. A constant-return model does not measure the probability of success or the effect of an unfavourable sequence of market returns. Actual outcomes can be substantially different.
Is the result after tax?
No. Withdrawals are gross. Initial cash assumes unused standard allowances and scheme entitlement, with a £268,275 cap. Tax on subsequent withdrawals, other income and benefits are not calculated.
